National Small Business Week is coming up fast, on May 20-26, 2012. A number of organizations and businesses are putting together events geared toward recognizing and enhancing the success of small businesses. There will be lots of opportunities for you to get involved. Check out the ones below, for starters…

The National Small Business Conference was created to honor and empower small business entrepreneurs. Presented by the Small Business Association, this event takes place May 20-26 in Washington D.C., but events will be webcast if you can’t make the long-distance haul. Special sessions include “The Export Forum: Take Your Business Global,” “The Social Media Forum,” and “Federal Contracting Education Sessions.”

The ubiquitous and always-engaging email marketing brand Constant Contact will be hosting a series of events called Get Down to Business, which dovetail with National Small Business Week. These will take place in 50 different cities, nationwide, from May 16-25. Local cities include Oakland, which will be Wednesday, May 23rd, 8:30am-12:30pm at the Scottish Rite Temple. San Francisco’s event will be Friday, May 25th, 8:00am-1:00pm at the Fort Mason Conference Center. All event are free and include breakfast and networking opportunities.

San Francisco, meanwhile, will be hosting their own Small Business Week, running May 14-20, which will kick off with a festive event called Flavors of San Francisco on Monday, May 12th at the SF Metreon. This will be an opportunity for you to meet and network with over 1,000 small business owners and community leaders. You’ll also get the chance to sample food from over 20 local restaurants, bars and food vendors. In the following days, there will also be tons of free workshops, events and classes to help you ramp up and improve your success as a small business.
